Motorcycle/ATV/Powersports Race Day BulletinThursday, May. 14 2015
A mandatory riders meeting will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 7:00am. The meeting will be at the Mobile TV in the Fan Experience Zone. Any competitor who fails to attend this meeting will be subject to a penalty, unless excused by the Assistant Director of Competition or his designee.
At 7:30 am, all two- wheeled competitors will begin to line on the grid. It is imperative each rider be ready to stage promptly at 7:30 am, so the first rider can leave the Start Line at 8:00am. All motorcycle competitors will be staged by division in the order established during qualifying. All competitors will run fastest to slowest (based on qualifying) within their division. The run order and qualifying information can be found at the bottom of this bulletin.
All riders will leave the Start Line one rider at a time. There will be a 20 second gap between each rider and a 2 minute break between each class. All riders are required to stage in their place in the running order. The running order within each division will be posted after the motorcycle/ATV/ Exhibition Powersports qualifying on Friday, June 26, 2015. All vehicles must be mobile on the starting grid; there will be no exceptions to this rule. No additional ATV’s or trailers will be allowed on the starting grid.
After the car program is completed. All ATV/Sidecar/UTV competitors will stage and be released in the same fashion as the motorcycle competitors.
If a rider is “red flagged” during their race run, they will be given instructions by a course official on returning to the Start Line for a rerun.
All competitors will be held at the Summit until the race is completed and will return to the Start Line in the Parade of Champions.
The top three finishers in each class must immediately report to the designated impound area in the motorcycle pits once they return from the Summit. Any rider/driver who finishes in the top three in their division and fails to immediately report to the impound area will be disqualified.

The cars will run fastest to slowest based upon qualifying times (regardless of which division or class). The cars will not run in any specific division/class order.

Pikes Peak Challenge- Sidecar
Pikes Peak Challenge- Quad
Pikes Peak Challenge- UTV/Exhibition (remainder of the UTV/Exhibition class)
Within each bike class/division listed, the competitors will grid and race fastest to slowest based upon qualifying times. There will be no intermission between the Bike Program Part #1 and the Car program to bring the bikes back down the hill.
2015 Standard of Competition Rules/Qualifying
The 2015 competitor list is posted on the PPIHC website. The PPIHC shall be allowed to add to the field at its discretion (Section III – Jurisdiction & Administration, Part VIII, subsections 8.2.4 and 8.2.5).
At this time, the committee does not anticipate needing to cut the field to eliminate competitors to a “target” number. However, there is a standard of competition that needs to be met and all competitors who are determined to be “measurably slower” than the field/division/class may be eliminated after qualifying. Competitors should be reminded of the following rules which are stated in the 2015 rule book:
– 8.2.5 The number of qualifiers for any division shall be established by the PPIHC Board of Directors, Staff, Race Director, Director of Competition, and Assistant to the Director of Competition. If the field is bigger than the target number, it will be trimmed beginning with the slowest vehicle in the field (or a particular division) until the field reaches the target number. The Director of Competition and Assistant to the Director of Competition may disqualify a vehicle completing a qualifying run for any reason including if it is measurably slower than other entries in the division. “Measurably slower” is any vehicle that is outside of 115% of the fastest qualifier within each division/class. If however, too many vehicles are eliminated by using the 115% rule, the field will be filled with the fastest vehicles outside of 115%.
Qualification times will be based on the competitor’s best time on the bottom section during qualifying held Wednesday, June 24 – Friday, June 26. Please refer to the race week schedule for more information.
The final field for race day will be posted on Friday June 26th by 5:00pm.
