2015 PPIHC Pit Space, Parking Management, Trailer Length

The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and Pikes Peak- America’s Mountain have the following restrictions in place due to the number of competitors in this year’s event.


Here are the requirements for race day:

  • No motor homes allowed for competitors or crew members.
  • Motorcycle / Quads/ Side car-Combined length of tow vehicle/support vehicle and trailer cannot exceed 30 feet (more details below)
  • Car / truck – Maximum combined length of tow/support vehicle and trailer is 60 feet (more details below)

It is vital that your tow / support vehicle and trailer fit our requirements. All Race Cars / Trucks must be in there pit space by 6:00 PM June 27, 2015. Pitting on Saturday the 27th is available for bikes, but optional (detailed schedule below).

Each competitor who has purchased pit row space (shoulder along the side of the road) has reserved it for practice days as well as race day. It is vitally important that no competitor park on pit row during practice/qualifying days and take someone’s space. If you reserved pit row space, an e-mail will be sent to you with specifics that you need. On practice days for the bottom section (unless pit row space has been reserved) no parking is allowed outside of the motorcycle and car pits. On the top section, park in the lot at Devils Playground.

Practice Day Parking:

Bottom Section– PPIHC Pits/Start Line Area

Middle Section– Glen Gove

Top Section– Devils Playground


Saturday June 27th Schedule:

12:00pm- Pits open for all competitors for race cars and motorcycles

6:00pm- The Gateway closes to uphill traffic

8:00pm- Competitors must be back off of the mountain

Pitting on Saturday is 100% mandatory for all car competitors

Pitting on Saturday is optional for all bike competitors

Pitting on Saturday is 100% mandatory for all competitors who has reserved pit row space

Specific Information for Car Competitors

In an effort to reduce pit and traffic congestion on Race Day the following procedures will be enforced.

  1. Pit space will be assigned to each competitor by Monday, 6/22/2015. A pit map will be provided on your registration packet.
  2. Each pit space will only be allowed 1 support/tow vehicle and 1 race car. Any large trailers will need to be placed further down from the pits in the gas pump areas.
  3. All support/tow vehicles and race cars must be in place in the assigned pit space by 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015.

Specific Information for Bike Competitors

On all practice days each entry will be limited to one support vehicle. No additional vehicles will be allowed without prior approval.

The motorcycle/ATV/powersports pits will be open on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 12:00pm through 6:00 p.m. for motorcycle/ATV/powersports competitors. Each entry will be allowed one space no longer than 30 feet in length. Competitors will be allowed to bring a trailer to the pits on Saturday. No vehicles over 30 feet will be allowed in the motorcycle pits. It is acceptable for competitors to team up and bring one trailer 30 feet or less with several race motorcycles/quads and park in the pits. The trailer will need to be unhooked from the tow vehicle.

On Sunday, June 28, 2015 the toll gate opens for competitors at 2:00 a.m. THERE IS NO TWO-LANE UPHILL TRAFFIC. You must stay in the uphill right lane all the way through the Gateway and to the pits. At 3:00am the Gateway opens to the general public. It is strongly advised that you arrive at 2:00am to avoid major congestion. The overall vehicle length to include a trailer and tow/support vehicle will not exceed 30 feet. The rider associated with any vehicle over 30 feet in length that attempts to enter the pits will receive a 1 minute penalty added to their time on race day and/ or a fine.
