PPIHC Board of Directors Letter to FansTuesday, Apr. 22 2014
Dear PPIHC Fans,
The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is the 2nd oldest motor sports event in the country and the world’s most famous hill climb. To insure that this great race can continue to be enjoyed by spectators and competitors for years to come we have made changes to the viewing areas for spectators beginning with the 92nd running on June 29th.
Spectators will have viewing areas of the Race to the Clouds along the course at Devil’s Playground, Cove Creek, Glen Cove, Ski Area, Halfway Picnic Grounds, and the Start Line. These areas have been established to provide outstanding views of the race and most importantly to enhance spectator safety and control. Each of these areas will be patrolled to insure a safe viewing area and spectators that venture outside of these areas will be subject to law enforcement action. Over the coming years we will continue to enhance the spectator atmosphere on the mountain with additional vendors, merchandise sales and electronic displays of the results in each of the viewing areas.
The Hill Climb Board of Directors needs your assistance to make this important transition. As this event continues to grow in stature within the racing community your enjoyment and safety are paramount. Please review the spectator rules and maps at www.ppihc.com for clarification prior to race day. If you are unable to attend this year’s race in person you can still watch the 2014 live stream at http://2014ppihc.emergingsports.tv or listen to the race live on KRDO radio 1240 AM.
Thank you for your continued support of the hill climb as we approach the 100th anniversary of this great event in 2016.
The Board of Directors
