Porsche of Colorado Springs and Road Scholars support local entry for 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill ClimbTuesday, Feb. 5 2013
Colorado Springs, CO – (February 5, 2013) – Porsche of Colorado Springs and Road Scholars announce their continued title support of local businessman Fred Veitch’s entry into the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
“Fred’s 7th place rookie finish in the highly competitive Time Attack Class last year was significant” said Joe Brenner, General Manager of Porsche of Colorado Springs. “Most of his competitors ran highly modified purpose built race cars. Fred, on the other hand, drove an older stock Porsche Turbo with only the necessary safety equipment added. It’s a testament to how well our street cars perform in difficult conditions.”
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is Road Scholars’ first effort sponsoring a Porsche racing entry. Their firm is widely well known for its high quality automotive restoration work. In 2011, Road Scholars restored a very rare 1949 Porsche Gmund Coupe which won 1st place at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours.
“Pikes Peak is such an iconic event, I’m really excited to be able to participate again” said Veitch. “Our sponsors are amazing and make this grass roots effort possible.”
The car is currently at Porsche of Colorado Springs, and is being prepared by Dave Petitti, their Service Manager, and his staff. “Dave did an amazing job last year. No issues. Just a sound, reliable car. It was perfect” Veitch said.
In addition to Porsche of Colorado Springs and Road Scholars, additional sponsorship for 2013 is being provided by: GIAC, The Shortline Automotive Group, Suncor Energy/Shell Oil, Andial, G.T. Racing, Rex Tire & Custom Wheel, The Sign Shop, Masterdrive, Concept Restaurants, High Country Window Tint, JBS Precision, Wheel Enhancement, and Nor’wood Development Group.
Testing for the Porsche of Colorado Springs/Road Scholars entry will begin in April at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
